In the UK the conversation presented on bbc r4 news can verge to the puerile and simplistic, only Marc Mardell say Sunday at 1pm and the consistently worthwhile ‘The World Tonight’ keep me interested. Filler pieces on the bbc r4 5pm slot can often be over extended and need drastic editing, in fact often wasting time when I’m sure theres lots more we can hear about of this world. It must be mighty frustrating for daily commuters to be served such slow paced puerile fare.
I actually applaud the new slogan ‘Be Alert’ its my opinion we need to get a lot of the workforce back into action. Sports events I can do without, likewise I never eat out in restaurants so why are they needlessly pushed as being so essential! Therefore to ‘Be Alert’ is vital, to stop any under 2m proximity, prolonged encounters and needless conversation. It was interesting to hear Prof Marc Woodhouse at lunchtime being of the opinion cv-19 transfer is low when out of doors. I think the UK is needlessly restrictive at this point ie first week May. So much of the non healthworker population should be allowed nearer a normal productive life. The Governments restrictions of ALL UK citizens is over simplistic and hence over damaging to most everyone and everything.
Too much emphasis has been placed on nice words which are at disjoint from reality and whats happening ‘on the ground’ … witness PPE and testing … both are victim to blether and whitewash. At 5pm listening to Rishi Sunak makes me think we need more ‘bite’, less nice feeling ramble, items of PPE and testing has proven to be not what we are told it is ie British manufacturers still exporting PPE and the disjoint twixt testing hype and reality is a scandal.
We need a four or five month opening up of restrictions, say June thro October, what no-one is mentioning is that we’ve seen nothing yet until when we hit the ”season of coughs and sneezes’. I think we will have to suffer a weekly death toll for the sake of avoiding financial disaster, both individually and as a nation.
What is vital and again not being brought out into the open is the importance of cordoning all encounters and activities of medical and care workers. These folk are ‘hot’ so to speak and cannot be allowed to beak bio-security in the general community. This needs to be made plain.
The terms and expressions around this cv-19 problem seem hindered, not developed. Only today did we hear the use of ‘proximity and duration’ come into play and also my own term ‘breath projection’ as yet I’ve never heard anyone else use but surely an essential term especially when talking about facemasks and their efficacy. The virus is super tiny but I guess needs droplets of breath to hitch a ride, hence ‘Be Alert’ is admirable.

If this was any other person I would feel sympathy but not some intentional and blustering non-event d j trump. In other words he has given up, he is now a hollow man. My opinion is now that he wants merely to walk away, his tv skills may have fooled for a while but now he himself knows he is way out of his depth and will want to return to the comfort of his gilded apartment in Manhattan. Yes certainly trump is clever but not a cleverness I hold in esteem.
