I can hear the breying of donkeys….

I use the term in its most derogatory sense, thinking of the numskull British Generals of the First World War, ie Genl French or Hague etc all notorious and never forgiven.

We live in an age of near endless fingertip access to information yet the deeper human qualities of insight, reason and good sense seem as far away as ever. Boris Johnson will go down as one of the most inept Prime Ministers the UK has ever seen, to my mind he makes Chamberlain or Anthony Eden look like a beacon of good judgement and insight. Likewise Biden in my judgement has slid to rock bottom. Oh dear I hoped far better than this.

Their dis-service to the country and people of Afghanistan is criminal, so lacking in appreciation of what is the real world. The USA we know can be so ill-judged in its dealings with other countries, it never seems to throw its brightest and best to foreign policy.

Witness the USA invasion of Iraq on little better than imagined aerial pics of ‘factories’ and compounds that when tested amounted to nothing, but by jingo they were adamant to ‘do the right thing (ie all imagined) to invade and to occupy.

But now we are dealing with reality, with human safety, emotion and well being; seemingly quantities right off the Biden and Johnson radar.

This will have seen by the world most likely already, but for the sake of completeness I cannot omit: earlier today when I heard the news of people clinging to a plane on take off I was in tears for their fear and desperation. I think we all need to dig into our pockets and help those less fortunate.

My heart crys for what I see …
