Thinking about Tesla …

I think we need be sceptical of Elon Musk, the electric truck for instance does not seem to ‘add up’ so to speak.

From the vid below we learn on US roads 36 ton gross is the max allowable vehicle weight when fully loaded.

For Tesla at 03:53 we are told truck without batteries = 16 ton; batteries = 17 ton, which also represents a lot of forthcoming disposal problems!

Therefore the crazy Tesla truck has a load carrying capacity of …. 3 ton! … which represents say a mere 9% of fully loaded weight as actual money-earning payload and remember after you have off-loaded say half of your ‘tiny cargo’ you are left with a 33 ton monster working to deliver say the remaining half of payload at 1-1/2 ton. This is a project gone wrong, but Elon can do this, I’m sure the paypal connection is delivering money literally by the ton. This is basically no better than the little self propelled vehicles I made as a kid out of Meccano and the Mamod steam engine, enough oomph to carry themselves forward but not much left over. So, beloved of people with huge egos and penchant for the big stage presentation its all B/S.

The vid tells us conventional truck load cap is around 19t as opposed to the electric Tesla truck at 3t.

I am always highly sceptical at the carbon cost of creating electric vehicles, I’m sure not as ‘green’ as they would have us believe.

As the vid commentary tells us at Tesla does not deliver the one figure that logistics companies need to know ie load capacity, see 02:00
