COP26 disaster …

COP26 is a failure, worse than I feared it would be.

Where are the scientists, where are the new ideas, the latest data, feedback projections?

It has dumbed down even below what a weak and blind IPCC could have stage managed.

I predicted a huge backlash to mans intransigence and eternal hubris and boy o boy theres going to be some very angry people, and in many senses rightly so.

Its my opinion the UK Government is delighted we are entering rapid and gross inflation, it will massage downwards the huge spend from Rishi, much of the money being quite un-needed, £10k lump sums to small businesses that didn’t need it and a furlough scheme that I reckon has been much abused and which continued for far too long. Covid is still out there but in many instances its a case of “Covid – what covid?”

I’m not impressed on the performance of bbc radio news on getting detail out on what really matters as we move forward to an unstoppable oven of catastrophe, this will make any war look as a minor scale dummy run.

We hardly hear of the feedback effect of multiple systems all catastrophically amplifying each others effect and eventually the collapse of one another, like a house of cards, in essence negating or destroying each single systems ability to survive; lets throw a few probable eventualities around…

  • diatoms and plankton will die, are in fact dieing, therefore half of the world CO2 to O collapses. Who mentions this?
  • the ability of land based green growing things decreases CO2 conversion as CO2 itself increases, never mind methane.
  • aerosol masking multiplier.
  • ice gone, particularly the importance of vertical melt.
  • fact: jet stream now in two parts, dragging warm wet air over the Arctic.
  • fact: sunspot max for 2026 and transition from El Nana to El Nino coincides!
  • weather systems will waver and abandon the worlds conventional food production areas.
  • meat production (burgers?) needs to be drastically curtailed / minimised.
  • live near to your work.
  • does anyone consider pollution from commercial sources, diesel fuelled agriculture, construction and the military?
  • if we are for a fact losing/ have lost insect populations, hence we are losing small songbirds then what if we lose earthworms … that would be catastrophe.
  • if the oceans are warmer and of greater bulk what of tectonic plate shift?
  • existing wind and solar depends on established conventional weather patterns, not weather in flux.
  • we need a one child policy.
  • methane
  • methane
  • methane
  • etc

Nero himself would be aghast as how we are holding our nerve and blind to what is happening, fiddling with inconsequentials when the big things need to be addressed. The tree problem for instance, unless its evergreen ie the conifer then here in northern latitudes we have a thing called autumn leaf fall, likewise most green growing things, for half the year are near to dormant. The tree thing is difficult in the UK, already near all land is used as is most appropriate, theres not much slack.

Still thinking trees, we only have land surface to play with and most of that being unsuitable, yet six sevenths of the worlds surface is water, therefore in my opinion a solution must be water based / oceanic.

Heres an idea, rather than carbon offset which is in itself an often dubious mechanism we could have death offset, pay poor brown people to die instead of ourselves … mighty quicker than a one child policy! Whoops, gallows humour.

But seriously here is a scientist talking

To the specific page in response to the COP26 cop-out …. http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2021/11/the-exclusion-of-climate-science-from-cop-meetings.html

Timescale? I just read stuff (preferably by scientists) … year 2026 will I fear be a much different place than where we are now, see the above bullet point list, year 2030 may well have seen homo sapiens much compromised if not near extinct.

Read up on aerosols ….http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/p/aerosols.html

read up on thermal expansion … http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/p/thermal-expansion.html

note in the above further down the page mention of ‘hole in sea ice in Laptev Sea 2010’,

The Laptev Sea will become famous for its shallowness and store of methane hydrate now set into melt mode. One could spend day upon day compiling this information, I only hope readers delve further than what at preseent at least at this address appears google presenting an obstacle at seeking out the latest scientific opinion, if it was fashion or burgers or stupid social networking it would be presenting me with a myriad of connections.

You might not like this …

But I have twice previously encountered high achieving African males that have been propelled to a high functioning role and have found them strangely obstructive, intransigent and totally unable to realise there is a crisis to be addressed. Here today I am thinking of Kwasi Kwarteng.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kwasi_Kwarteng

The bbc r4 news this evening and this last couple of days tells me energy intensive industries which sadly I would think operate on slim margins all shake their head on Kwarteng being deaf to their pleas.

Boris, lorries and food…

If Boris cannot match drivers to the necessary requirements of an adequate operating capacity for this countrys food needs then what the heck is he doing managing this country?

Can he be trusted or can he even comprehend the necessary fine detail and sophistication of fiscal policy, the control of money supply and inflation, of effective financial management, of international relations, ie complicated stuff ad infinitum etc etc all bound up with understanding nomenclature and terms that I cannot comprehend? The last few days we have had daily re-runs of ‘crisis what crisis’ when in fact the first requirement to solving anything is to realising there actually IS a problem.

Increasingly when I see and hear Boris I cannot help but recall some bumbling inept middle or higher rank military man.

The highly toxic and disadvantageous mix of Brexit and shunning of all European hired hands is an absolute recipe for disaster but yes we certainly walked into it eyes wide open. Farage and any other brexiteer you can think of have certainly landed us into a complete mess, setting the clock back fifty years.

The Tories talk of ‘levelling up’ but as every day ticks by there is nothing other than an increasing inequality, a blind halfwit would surely be able to ascertain of this. A case in point has been the withdrawl of the £20 regular covid payment, being withdrawn we are told ‘to save money’ but this so-called reason is complete nonsense, the hardship, anxiety and fear engendered by this measly withdrawl of an assistance payment will result in far more than any twenty quid per person in future spending to help the poor and needy. Yet it is only now that furlough payments are to cease, an expense that could have stopped even months ago. A bit of a joke considering present day mobility, there must be many people back to working full time and pocketing the furlough money. Another state sponsored scam…..

To compound Tory stupidity as well as announcing stopping the £20 covid payment Boris and team announce ‘new measures’ to help the poor ie another form of payment to look for. Surely if all is ticking over why the heck introduce yet another with set of hurdles with all the attendant stress and admin costs of starting all over again from scratch! Loony is the only term for Boris & Co. Madness. All of this when we are staring into the prospect of inflation of the likes we have never seen for many decades even for the simplest things as food and heating.

Why is practical wisdom and the foresight of experience so unfashionable?

Another quite blind and stupid idea from Boris and his team of which Rishi Sunak the Chancellor seems adamantly keen are the cuts in Overseas Aid, this again is madness. Imagine in your mind projects and programmes that would be abandoned, food, medicine, healthcare, schools, assistance to self sufficiency, birth control, education, equal rights …. all scuppered by the ‘levelling up’ Tories. I’m sure China would be delighted to step-in, if we in the West are so stupid then good luck to them. Very much a case of out of sight out of mind with Boris and the team I think, this could in fact suit them admirably as a campaign slogan.

If I were in charge the first thing I would do is hunt down those big corporations that are so skilfull at tax evasion, the Amazons that are destroying the multivarious web of stockist to end user network that has existed for a long time, their relentless market capture.

Additionally here in the UK we have an epidemic of individuals operating for tax purposes as Limited Companies, this I think is as obscene as any tax avoidance by say Amazon. Already this typical individual IR35 is on ‘big money’ and somehow pleads themselves as a special case somehow not needing to contribute as all the rest of us…. quite sickening. Yet still expect a legal system, Police, education, healthcare whenever it suits them! IR35 hypocrites I think is the correct term.

The worst PM in a long time …

We have walked eyes wide open into one self inflicted disaster after another, not only exiting Europe but the double whammy of hindering or stopping free exchange of workers. Its usual in life when huge (a Boris word if ever …. ) changes are implemented to taper and slide as much as possible, to ease the pain. After all, this is not wartime, we should strive to allow light and clarity and an exchange of good will to predominate in our lives. It was not a secret that European drivers, European fruit and produce pickers and European process workers were fundamental to the UK food and distribution industry. The big joke has been that a ballerina is permitted to work in the UK from Europe (yet live performance has barely started theres no real need for them surely… ) but that drivers, pickers, process workers are not!

The latest news is that some trivial amount at 10k people are allowed in short-term only until Christmas Eve …. a most stupid cut-off date imaginable as we know fine well they will want to travel to be back with their families!

Question: wheres the brains in this UK Government?

Another big self inflicted disaster and for decades has been the often pointless tweaking at state school education and curriculum. many kids are barely literate, they cannot sketch or explain themselves or grasp a sense of community or of how to living inclusively.

In Cabinet and at the helm we are supposed to have the best and brightest, this not now looking to be the case. Why do we seem to be so keen on rich Asians to to take up as many posts as possible, these rich people cannot understand the blind sightedness and cruelty of stopping a twenty quid note to the poor and the needy; or of the fear and uncertainty all compounded by the travails of covid. I cannot be impressed by Rishi Sumac, nor Priti Patel, the latter making it a prisonable offence to enter the UK. We also live in a more unfair society as from I think Thatcher onward the Local Authority house building programme pretty well dried up, very soon people were dependant on private landlords, the worst possible situation.

Heres the bombshell, its my opinion theres too many people on the planet, if we could halve the population then we might be holding each other in better regard, more able to survive on the food this limited and compromised earth can supply. People knock the Chinese but for most of the twentieth century they proceeded around on bicycles and consumed little…. and had a one child policy. Surely these are things we should all aim for, but hubris, ambition, consumerism will undo any fine objectives.

And we are all of one species, this encroaching Nationalism from any part of the world is unethical, immoral, free exchange of peoples surely is how humanity needs to proceed.

I was steam-rollered, jackbooted and literally forced into …

… having to accept against my will a ‘condensing boiler‘ most certainly against my wishes and remember its me that foots the bill (for in this case something i did not want) ie a replacement central heating boiler of the newer ‘condensing type’. This would be say eight years ago and cost me £1,700 GBP.

When the young man left after totting up I’m guessing £700 for ten hours labour (which is more than double any hourly rate I have ever charged never mind pocketed as a wage, in fact three times the amount on invoicable monies alone) …. I was left with gaping holes to fill and particularly with no immersion heater for instant hot water and the facility to air our clothing etc in the aptly named ‘airing cupboard on the upstairs bedroom level! Its particularly jarring to me we lost the immersion heater upstairs.

In winter it kept upstairs warm too, taking the edge off the cold. maybe indicating an inefficiency, but appreciated and of course now lost.

Point of this post and something that i only realised yesterday is that the super-duper pile of crap called the condensing boiler is in fact now seeming itself as out of date and backward when with the modern push to eliminating gas fired boilers now elevates the long uninstalled immersion heater I reckon as looking so much more attractive (its electric not the now shamed gas) and attractive to the ‘powers that be’ the authorities and the bright bunnies running around oh so desperate to install the latest. I wish them well in their Spanish villas and three car families and unfettered consumerism fuelled by decades of insisting on the installation of gas fired condensing boilers at very juicy hourly rates, certainly not a lifestyle of mine. In actual fact i hope they fall flat on their face and i look forward to once again having an immersion heater in the airing cupboard.

‘ol Woodenhead …

I’m sorry to be saying this, yet I’m sure many millions of people are saying this also but recalling Bidens disastrous speech a couple of weeks ago on insisting to honour trumps ‘arrangement’ to back out of Afghanistan and specifically stating he did not want any more US service personnel to lose life (ie last occurred three years ago) … this will as I’ve stated already go down in infamy, it will echo for a century or more as totally a stupid move, as totally woodenheaded; of course assuming as if we were to be an extant species for so long a time period in the years ahead.

Lets face it, so much of what trump pushed for and was mostly unseen from general view for example to promote his ‘trash-crackpot-take’ on any or all situations ie environment, equal rights, healthcare, etc etc ….. we can see there can not have been anything trump couldn’t keep his grubby hands away from; yet I’m assuming the Biden administration has over-turned a great deal of the trumpian destruction, so why and so why has Biden pressed ahead with the insane withdrawal from Afghanistan?

The great obstacle appears to be in it not being easy to over-turn the trumpian envoys disastrous ‘Art of the Deal’ secret meeting/s with the Taliban which means I’m assuming Biden has to honour the pot of crap negotiated by an imbecile called trump or more likely his whoever representative, which I increasingly wonder was greenhorn Jared, but of course it was whoever flew out there ‘and did the business’. Now on bbc radio news yesterday and today we hear as how little or nothing was extracted for Western advantage but it was all a complete giveaway to the Taliban!! I’m surprised they didn’t give ’em all goodie bags stuffed with ammunition and codes and cyphers and other such advantages.

But Biden is not trump, or hopefully should not be.

So could we assume mayhem and future decades of turmoil in the Middle East exist now because of a hardly educated over advantaged low IQ son of a crook called Jared? This indeed has the hallmark of trumpian callous unthinking ineptitude and shallow gloss, wrong man for the wrong job, but looks okay for the camera.

The Taliban got it all, the West retained nothing. This is blasphemous in its stupidity, an influencing and intelligence platform cast to the wind.

Why are our so-called leaders so poor?

So who is the greater woodenhead here below, one obviously made of wood and another, taking an utterly woodenheaded direction …

A Tale of two Countries.

Its staggering that a mere twenty quid is now being taken away, when seemingly half the country have converted themselves to ‘limited company’ and openly brag how little tax they pay. If that is the case they do not deserve the fruits of tax contribution ie hospitals, medical care, the legal system, etc.

I’m proud of the tax I pay, its a measure of my success. Pity Google and Amazon didn’t feel the same. Another loophole is the downright fiddle of the Chinese selling on ebay from a UK despatch point, charging VAT but as with a couple of duff recent purchases I’m having to send the returned item to China. This stinks! Means another ten or thirty quid down the drain.

Its hard to fathom at the Exchequer the Chancellor wandering around demanding the supplementary twenty quid is abolished. How mean and petty in the extreme, the poorer we are the more valuable a twenty quid note becomes. After covid, isolation, struggling, loss possibly of friends or loved ones the last thing the poor need is a kick in the teeth.

I personally for forty years have been of ‘sole trader status’ and am quite happy to pay my tax. Luckily in later life I am not poor, but in earlier decades the tax bill was always a burden, even when income was extremely modest. But one cuts ones cloth to suit ones purse and hence always muddled through. Now that I’m successful in later life in some ways I’m hardly interested, I do my best but the energy of early and middle life has gone, bereavement didn’t help either. I crave time to settle down with books, take notes, to learn, or to work in my garden but this life of mine hardly allows it. Cooking takes up time too, and all laundry by hand through choice, if it was good enough for my ancestors its good enough for me and anyway it really annoyed me the electric washer spent ages spinning laundry that I could as easily wring by hand and get onto the line in five minutes … job done!

For the poor and needy that withdrawl of £20 is tragic, contrast that with the horrendous expense of something like HS2 …a facility surely in these days of electronic communications is hardly needed, to hell with HS2 …. what we need is lorry drivers! Why with HS2 do they need to ‘save an hour’ on a journey … make me laugh please …. so what, the traveller can have a coffee n whatever once arrived? No-one in the arguament mentions anything of freight, we know it is all road bound. There is no valid arguament for HS2.
