I hate to be critical, but cannot help but think more effort is needed, more insight, more depth in developing what is expected of her in this position, in other words it would be better to make more of an effort ie provide greater energy to her role.

postscript … I still feel sorry for her as I did nearly two years ago when I heard that disastrous Inaugration Speech. It was dire, a totally out of sync message and a false take on what is real life. trump is like a magnet to the wrong sort of person, to absurd and disastrous ideas, drawn to him as iron filings. Perhaps on reflection Melania is in fact doing the best she can (no pun intended) as after all look who she is married to, it must not be easy having to be constantly mindful not to put a foot wrong. My wife grew up in a very difficult household, luckily moving to her grandmother as refuge; it was a mad household, drunkenness, violence, poverty and four small children shaking with fear, having to blank off the horribleness. As I’ve always said (at least from Nov 2017 which was for the first time I switched on to Climate Change) …. the IPCC incorporates large scale carbon capture that has yet to be invented in any serious form and ignores the upcoming effect of methane in its three forms ie geological, microbial and thawing hydrates. Lets enumerate the points and note that I do agree with what Sam Carana has to say which I argue is not bias but reason, the evidence and common sense. When trump as yesterday states that the Climate Change Scientists are being ‘political’ he himself is operating at a totally political and morally unsound position. Every sane thinking person on the planet knows this, the canaries are screaming but trump and his twisted and bitter white old men of the GOP insist otherwise !!!
Let me work through to precis Sams points …
IPCC has moved the baseline (though I’ve yet to read the IPCC document) … imagine already how much smelting, burning of coal, steam power had added carbon to the atmosphere already by 1850.
IPCC erroneously applies a straight line projection for whatever lies ahead, in reality its a huge tangle of interconnected self and mutually re-inforcing feedback ever increasing feedback loops. What engineers call positive feedback ie an expotential knock-on and is an upward curve, never conforms to a straight line plot.
IPCC ignores spikes, these causing the really nasty shock effects.

WOW … IPCC does not take into account all the real world happening now events ie snow and ice loss, albedo effect, methanes, last ten year carbon effect, aerosol effect, increased water vapour feedback, jet stream alteration, sea level rise and expansion, green plant CO2 conversion fall off, carbon from wildfires, etc etc. Each single point is so very interconnected and all exacerbate each other. May I add loss of diatoms and plankton that are major CO2 to O converters as well as being part of ocean weather systems, losing coral reef being a symptom of a the more fundamental crash in ocean food chain, the diatoms. Its time now for a fast tracking approach to science, silly bloody clusters of cagouled junior scientists out on the ice shelf / mass is looking a bit twee; a two year peer review is too slow.
IPCC seems stuck in a time bubble, looking at a carbon ‘budget’ approach when in fact carbon is a massive deficit, a carbon bankruptcy, a bankrupt carbon lifestyle that has to be fundamentally altered (which I doubt we can).

Tax or fees needed on polluters. Note the worlds obsession with cheap air travel, polluting gas guzzlers, car based lifestyle (of which I too am some way guilty). In my opinion even electric vehicles are suspect and not as green as we’d like to think.

It vexes me at the increasing and needless number of ever bigger SUVs and even more expensive cars that my neighbours buy; quite needless as we can hardly assume they are involved in ‘light haulage’! I assume they a) feel they need them and b) are drawn into such a value system. I’ve a neighbour that eats nothing but meat and most others that value a meal at its meat content or its closeness to an oversized burger. Others that thrill at their endless air travel, even a weekend break involves the airport or the insanity of a weekend home a thousand miles away. I’m no angel, far from it but strive to somehow do better, to keep things simple, a lighter carbon footprint and have done for years; at least my work is nearby and I’ve no need to venture more than a few miles.

And it appears to be a lifetime of hoodwinking and evasion yes, most certainly a dynamic accumulative business, but at the same looking to evade taxes on profit and transfer of assets to children. Quite ironic, I’ve neighbours that twenty months ago as two little bright bunnies were pleased to announce to me that “We think trump is good for America” being Fox devotees and now the man himself he too thinks he can avoid taxes … ehm, sorry, nope, death and taxes etc as the old saying goes. Why doesn’t one of the assembled hangers-on behind him just go up to him and state plainly this is NOT acceptable attitude or behaviour, EVERYONE is embarrased. We read lately how saddening it is to see polarisation of a country as expansive as the USA. Everyone is an ‘incomer’ in one form or another.
What is more frightening is how many people are unable to see the obvious, how they accept misinformation. A couple of weeks ago someone said to me (random dog walker met in a place seldom on my list) how she admires trump (?) in that he is a self-made man !! How the heck did that creep in?? … totally oblivious to his dads vast building programmes aided by government assistance and his granpappys Yukon/ gold enterprises complete with curtained off whores for the busy executive to unwind and a plentiful supply of horsemeat flogged to death.
So, it seems trumps twenty word vocab, inability to grasp the simplest of International Relations, Trade, or Humanitarian difficulties all wash over her head as much as they do trumps. She seemed bright, I would imagine can earn £30k pa no problem, and outwardly it would seem a credit to her parents. But why so polarised, why so misinformed? I suggested quite calmly to google ‘trump Atlantic City’ for twenty minutes and avoid anything Fox. Most likely she never did, most folk find me ‘too much’, too turned on towards learning or gaining insight and to what I hope is independent thinking. Their televisions mostly steer them like slow-motion dodgems.

This sad and sorry and potentially catastrophic un-needed slamming of tariffs onto China made product is insulting to Americans and the Wests best supplier, they should be endlessly thankful China can supply at such low prices that allow the West to make such generous margins. Margins and profits that are not as clearly visible as perhaps could be.
Maybe this is happening at the right time, he needs to be ousted ASAP and surely so many people, towns and industries looking set to be mangled by another pointless trump invention will vote accordingly. Theres a long road from selling steak in a box mail order or China made ties to being numero uno in the White House and it seems brag and a slack mouth coupled with media skills pandering to the lowest common denominator have stood him in good stead in his being catapulted from novelty tv and pageants to real power. Note how contrived his ‘rallies’ actually are ie the chosen backdrop of so-called supporters, the stage managed audience. I wouldn’t be suprised he is clueless as to how ‘arranged’ it all is. He rose on a wave of reality tv and just merely continued the same.
The Chinese are tough, after all they built the railroads out to the West Coast USA and probably received very little in return. I feel so sorry for American manufacturers and farmers, they will curse that djt ever got into the White House.

On bbc radio news just now we hear … that the unfathomable trump has pulled funding to aid Palestinians ie education, health, welfare. Its all in the article, the upside down clownish world of a person that should certainly not be anywhere near Governmental power or policy ….
Its hard to know with trump what is the greater crime, his apparent denial of climate change, his deliberate and wilful inversion of truth or his desire to control the news. Blame equally rests with the Republican Party, to allow such mindset to rot and eat away at decent honest values.
All of these things are crimes. Much too important to let some barely literate showman steer the course.
Heres an article today that exposes the frustration of news reporters over at Fox, a news channel much criticised for its pro-trump stance and often unwilling and unable to reveal the bigger picture of what actually IS going on. A sort of myopia. Any news channel that regularly invites the opinion of Sebastian Gorka or John Bolton and promotes that opinion as widely held is most certainly failing its viewers. Yet as explained, its far easier and at lower cost to ask such as Sebastian Gorka or John Bolton for a front of camera interview than use traditional reporters digging out the facts. Maybe it helps ratings when viewers see ‘famous’ heads talking the familiar spiel, its a no-brainer to merely accept such nonsense. So much that is projected is angled, nuanced, worded to make it all the more acceptable to the ordinary voter as in the old adage … ‘Give em what they want’. There is an obsession with market share, quantifiable numbers and data, not to see the activities of man as righteous and noble but maximising clicks, viewers, votes. So no wonder shit floats to the stop.
