I know where we are heading – methane.

I’ve done sufficient to know where we are heading with methane, the East Siberian Ice Shelf methane time-bomb etc. Yet in these early days of the unfolding methane ‘problem’ its horrible to see the waves of information and pictures unfold confirming where we are heading.

I got the twitter from the Paul Beckwith youtube channel.

Heres the article you need to read ..  https://www.newsweek.com/methane-boiling-sea-discovered-siberia-1463766

Hint: google for the arctic map and note all the shallow sea that covers the undersea thawing permafrost, I read somewhere it is up to 20km thick, all ripe for frozen hydrate to thaw, the subsea frozen cap to disappear and microbial activity to get into full swing and for sealed methane gas deposits to vent. Green things, trees and plants will go into reverse, shutdown and already the 20% of CO2 conversion offered by oceanic plankton, algae (diatoms etc) is most definitely declining.

And meanwhile trump fiddles ….

Climate change, a laymans guide.

I often feel there is difficulty in finding or locating the latest on climate change ie increasing methane, ice loss, feedback loops etc.

This overview by Sam Carana holds up well, succinct and eminently digestible for the layman; I am a layman.   http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/p/extinction.html

It illustrates the stacking pernicious influences which in themselves arithmetically ensure sufficiently our downfall and even for this guaranteed scenario Sam Carana plays a light touch re the inevitable compounding and accelerating positive feedback loops that will push us into a whole new series of situations. Its all a quite dire mix, highly ironic as its mainly the consumption of oil and gas from ancient diatoms that has led to our demise, taking away the fundamental first layer of oceanic food chain and 20% of the worlds CO2 >O conversion. And yet no-one has ever seen a diatom with the naked eye.

I think I’m correct in saying it was independent scientist James Lovelock that discovered the gas DMS a product of oceanic plankton and its importance. I suggest read his autobiography, an instructive blend of practical science, talent and an independent thinking mind.

Also …  https://www.whoi.edu/oceanus/feature/dms–the-climate-gas-youve-never-heard-of/

Sam Carana in a more recent post highlights the disregard paid by the latest IPCC (Sept 2019) briefing / report in which NO FIGURE IS QUOTED for the effects of subsea methane in its three forms, frozen hydrates, microbial, capped gas deposits. The IPCC are criminal in this neglect. However not as criminal as donald trump in the rolling back and eradication of decades of wise strategies to husband the planet more sensibly; but of course trump would know nothing of the natural world.

IPCC and the refusal to acknowledge the importance of impending methane release.

IPCC is wrong.

Just now I heard on bbc r4 ‘Inside Science’ an interview with Phil Williamson  from Univ East Anglia ie https://people.uea.ac.uk/p_williamson   … concerning the latest report from the IPCC in which impending methane release is given very low priority. This is utterly baffling, quite erroneous and I think the placative ‘one metre by the end of the century’ to be shameful in its misleading nature.

There will not be any  ‘end of century’ to witness I am afraid.

Most of what was said I disagreed with from Phil Williamson, for instance stating that coral reefs could re-generate in fifteen years is utter nonsense, yet again no mention of the bryozoan / diatom symbiosis. Diatoms factor into so many perspectives of what we are going through. I may be wrong, merely an interested layman here. However to quote myself …

Diatoms also live a symbiotic relationship with Bryozoans ie the coloured animals that create and live in coral reefs. It is a dire irony that consuming the oil and gas of ancient diatoms ie comprising 70% of the oil and gas industry has led to both their own and our demise. No-one has ever seen a diatom with the naked eye.

http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/micropolitan/marine/algae/index.html

I would have thought last years IPCC Annual Report in which low importance was given to impending methane release (ie thawing permafrost cap releasing already formed methane gas, rapidly rising microbial activity and thawing methane calthrates; both from land and from the horribly shallow East Siberian ice shelf )  would have now been aligned with enlightened thinking but no, its been swept under the carpet yet again by the IPCC and its select band of contributors. In addition Phils endeavour to constantly massage downward the numbers to 1.5 from 2.0 degrees warming is taking things too far, as dangerous as any over-exaggeration, in my opinion from what I read of other scientists 2 deg C will soon come and go, to be overshot rapidly.

Why is it Prof Peter Wadhams was not interviewed, he knows ice, a lifetimes work.

https://www.theguardian.com/books/2016/aug/21/farewell-to-ice-peter-wadhams-review-climate-change

Its the nature of nature to ramp and accelerate as outside influences ie mans fossil fuel greed and polluting activities come home to roost. ‘Ye reap as ye shall sow’ seems appropriate. https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Bible-Verses-About-Reap-What-You-Sow/

Sorry to get Biblical but maybe its an ‘endtimes prompt’ because after all as time trundles on what else shall we cling to, occupy our time?

Work in progress, more info on IPCC obfuscation as info is obtained, merely the opinion of an interested layman.

A few hours later and bbc r4 again broadcasts the radio programme ‘Inside Science’ from five hours previously. Never before have I been so glad of a quick repeat. I feel sorry for Phil Williamson, I can hear in his voice the tension between what the IPCC expects and his own self worth and integrity; he invites others to reach their own conclusions, this I applaud. This also highlights the IPCC to focus on published papers where in fact change is happening SO FAST that published and peer reviewed papers have a self defeating time lag that we now need to circumvent, a view I’ve held since I first latched on to climate change a couple of years ago. Therefore the best we can be sure of is to listen to the likes of Peter Wadhams and for instance Jason Box and Natalia Shakhova.

https://envisionation.co.uk/index.php/blogs/99-russian-scientists-excluded-from-presenting-important-research-as-nasa-goddard-director-tries-to-discredit-observational-scientific-research

From the above I quote …

The event, held a fortnight ago, is still causing controversy beyond the negative tweeting by NASA Goddard Director, Dr Gavin Schmidt. Schmidt aimed his presentation at discrediting the Russian’s work, using theoretical models, without expertise in methane, or credible data. The end result is that the Russian team have composed a letter to Royal Society President, Sir Paul Nurse, asking for an opportunity to present their findings, including contributions from over 30 scientists working in the region for over 20 years.

end of quote.

The ‘main man’ Sam Carana reports on the limp kow-towing IPCC Report and informs us that the IPCC doesn’t even add in methane from the submerged East Siberian ice-shelf ie what will be a quick warming and vast release of methane from less than 50m of underwater thaw; this beggars belief. http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2019/09/ipcc-report-ocean-and-cryosphere-in-a-changing-climate.html

Waking up to chemtrails.

Chemtrail diary, northeast UK Fri 20th Sept 2019.

Climate pundits and activists Sam Carana and Paul Beckwith will not admit to chemtrails being real and a danger to life, in fact they get a bit shirty when asked to comment upon such things. Well, they certainly MUST NOT have looked out of MY window this morning and witnessed the most obscene uninterrupted lines in the sky stretching as far as the eye can see (ie my cone of view). Usually I see more in the south but this morning its lots to the north. I wonder if the free weather sat will reveal this?

Also, whilst still dark there also were huge long horizon to horizon chemtrails, as per last Tuesday the 17th Sept.  This pre-dawn observation depends of course on it being a clear sky; literally chemtrails among the stars.

Chemtrails do not fade as would a condensation trail. Chemtrails haze and build up to a whitened or grey non-clear sky; so in effect defying nature.

Realise that the general media have done a v good job at ridiculing the chemtrail idea so as to make ppl like me look stupid.

On SAT24 live weather satellite we can see at early morning masses of chemtrail out over the North Sea for today Friday and also when over the land surface are orientated exactly as I see them this morning. Unfortunately I cannot obtain an image of this other than by taking a pic with my camera; pic to follow.

Postscript six hours later. In my stupidity I did not take a screen capture when first viewing the NASA Worldview image for the frenetic chemtrail activity over northern England and particularly the North Sea. At 4pm two hours later finding time to download the data most activity was wiped, only a sanitised version remains; it had even included the loops and figure of eights I had seen in the sky to the north. All has been taken off the remaining ‘cleaned-up’ image from Worldview. What can we read into this ???  What I say is true and real and I witnessed it. Damn my slowness.

Here below is a corrected reflectance screenshot that goes some way to illustrate the chemtrail activity over NE England and the North Sea this morning. Near ALL of it is chemtrail.

Greenland ice melt.

I keep it brief, we know fine well what is to happen;  I haven’t the patience nor attention span for a fifteen minute ‘presentation’ or anyone droning on with minutae so to speak.

Its obvious already we are into extreme weather events both in ferocity and frequency,   likewise ice melt is heading in a most awful direction, note undersea ice volume as unseen from sat images will soon in a year or two at most surprise us all. Most arctic ice quite horribly is 0.5 metres or less.

Chemtrails are getting clever too, Tuesday morning last before any visible light from the Sun I could see huge definite parallel trails across the sky, I photographed them too with tripod and timer. Also this morning weather sat revealed huge amount of chemtrails NW of Ireland in the North Atlantic heading towards Ireland and Europe. Remember this most likely I am assuming contains aluminium, barium, strontium, etc in nano-particle form.

Therefore I am mindful to ‘keep it simple’ to live a righteous considerate life, gain pleasure where I can, to help whoever I may and am so sorry we are at such ‘interesting times’.

The real big triggers are ice loss, disappearing permafrost and the dreaded arctic methane (say x120 the nastiness of CO2 in the first five years) which are land based and beneath shallow water ie under 50m water depth of the East Siberian Iceshelf, as illustrated on any map of the north polar region.

For Arctic ice google Prof Peter Wadhams. http://www.damtp.cam.ac.uk/user/pw11/

Look also how near un-reported is the loss of diatoms a particular interest of mine, these being the actual originators of 70% of the worlds oil and gas reserves, no-one has ever seen a single diatom with the naked eye yet to my untrained amateur mind the loss of diatoms is directly linked to massive widespread pacific seabird collapse, coral decline and the probable loss of ocean cloud systems and associated generation of DMS and the conversion of or generation of 20% of the worlds oxygen. By diatoms we can also include other marine / water based algae. Plankton is the next level of food chain above algae, both much neglected as a news item for the general public.

We all know as kids how ice melts, we wake up and next morning its all gone.

Methane and climate change – the basics.

arctic-news-blogspot.com in my opinion is the ‘touchstone’ for up to date climate change info. http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/

Here is a previous post from Sam Carana that explains the methane conundrum / problem / emergency…  http://methane-hydrates.blogspot.com/2013/04/methane-hydrates.html

I can read a text based post much quicker and is a more satisfying and efficient experience than listening to a fifteen minute recap of what I could read in a text format much quicker.  Paul?

It is all irreversible, is by its own nature of interconnected climate change feedback loops irreversible. Who would have thought warming ‘dirt’ would be so dangerous!

Note also the demise of diatoms, a particular keen interest if mine; the gas DMS a product of diatoms and algae is fundamental to ocean cloud formation. We think ourselves so slick and clever but our lifestyles are anathema to this planet.

Climate change, but trump denies!

Yet the quite lamentable and quite laughable C in C donald j trump would have otherwise. As in all his life trump is so out of step. I deny him upper case.

A few posts ago I wrote on how 12 billion tons of ice melted in one day in Greenland from an embed youtube and this one day added a half millimetre to the worlds oceans. I’ve no means of proving this data but nonetheless etc.

Its my opinion that trumps climate change denial and roll-back/ deregulation of all valuable hard won legislation with conservation, energy sensibility, climate safeguards  are in fact War Crimes. trump goes golfing when he should be a President.

Shame upon him and the blight he brings.

rump and his many pronged attack on good sense and decency…

Wildfires in the North.

Here the bbc has a useful overview of the wildfires in the North.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-49125391

ie wildfires in Siberia, Alaska etc. We read that lightning strikes are mostly the cause, but record dry conditions and higher than normal wind speed make things much worse.

And here below is the source of data included in the above link that I have yet to explore, time presses!

https://atmosphere.copernicus.eu/

Its my opinion the California wildfires burnt with such vociferous rapidity due to chemtrail aluminium, I wonder at the aluminium levels in Siberia and Alaska?

We will all know the Lena and the Ob.

Most certainly as these immense rivers bigger than we westerners can visualise every minute every day supply vast quantities of warmed water onto the East Siberian ice shelf, the home of vast up to 20km deep stored carbon in oxygenless ie anaerobic conditions; the perfect laboratory for the production of vast amounts of methane as well as a catastrophic volume of methane ready to blow. The underwater ice cap itself has luckily sealed the methane, that is now going fast as it anywhere and everywhere on the circumpolar map of the Arctic where it shows white or pale blue, theres lots.

We should also realise the rivers Yenisey and the Kolyma.

Its a simple fact even a small portion of this impending methane release will destroy all CO2 conversion as we know it and us with it, last week at last a news story carried re ocean cloud formation and plankton (DMS) … to my mind too little reporting, too light ie no mention of the irony of diatom collapse (see where our oil and gas originated) and CO2 reduction quite futile. As in the link below the IPCC report is way off target (the usual plain underestimation / reduced easier to swallow figures misleadingly put forward) … but hey … why alarm anyone or Governments when we can trundle onwards with half a smile and half a conscience.

Mostly I know where we are going and this latest s/h windows 10 acquisition seems to thwart new or latest links. I cannot listen to Paul Beckwith now, only a briefer zippier presentation could hold my interest. Names I will still google for are Prof Kevin Anderson, Prof Peter Wadhams, Prof Paul Erlich, links in order below.

Prof Kevin Anderson  … https://tyndall.ac.uk/people/kevin-anderson

Prof Peter Wadhams … http://www.damtp.cam.ac.uk/user/pw11/

Prof Paul Erlich … https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_R._Ehrlich

Heres Sam Carana ie arctic-news.blogspot.

https://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2019/08/ipcc-report-climate-change-and-land.html

And below a screen capture and a link for Siberia, it is big, the biggest landmass and the shallowest iceshelf we could imagine. Yet who in the west until now thinks of the rivers Lena and the Ob? Note vast plumes of smoke from forest fires, zoom in to see the areas alight.

Siberia worldview screenshot 11 Aug 2019 https://go.nasa.gov/2OPxvI4
Siberia worldview screenshot 11 Aug 2019 https://go.nasa.gov/2OPxvI4

I honestly don’t think I’ll be sat here in ten years time, in 2029, its quite impossible; there is just no way basic laws and interactions of physics and chemistry can be thwarted.

As foretold.

This newer replacement stack with Windows 10 does not help me get at new information so easily as XP, I feel distanced and I am not being presented the latest discussions. But then again we know where climate change is going. There is so much that is not reported, my own fascination with diatoms is central to the climate change arguament but no-one mentions them. Invisible to the naked eye, yet are responsible for 70% of the worlds oil and gas resources, (were) as oceanic algae responsible for DMS production, something which is essential for ocean cloud systems … a point which only last week is termed ‘news’ when in fact none of the scientific modelling even included !!! Beggars belief. Has no-one even remembered reading James Lovelock or have looked and learned about algae through a microscope? Diatom demise is the reason for coral reef decline.

Likewise Paris and the IPCC does not even include methane release in its (near worthless) predictions. I’ve a one-sided wager with a friend that we are the wrong side of 3 deg by end of 2026, which means catastrophe and our certain demise and my £1k will be safe, not that its going to be of any use, apart from some oxygen bottles and some synthetic food, all quite futile. trumps approach to climate change needs to be regarded as a War Crime.

Ponder on the problems of an absent or interrupted electrical supply, moving money and people, web, communications, sewage, water etc.

As an antidote to present and forthcoming stress I found this youtube v useful, I don’t have the ability (or patience) to sit quietly and watch in linear fashion, but hopping along I got what I could.

Note at night time its an all enveloping dark, and sleep comes quickly and easily. Contemplation comes easy and a good book would be treasured. Many times at my favourite place I have stood and delighted in the landscape around me as daylight turns to dusk and then to a starry night; quite magical, impressive and always a joy.
